Unearthing Intersectionality Bible Study Workbook

"Unearthing Intersectionality: A 12-Week Journey of Redefining, Reimagining, Reframing Women of the Bible Through the Lens of Womanist Theology" is an immersive and transformative Bible study experience designed to offer fresh insights into the narratives of women in the Bible. This 10-week journey is rooted in the principles of Womanist Theology, a progressive approach that places the religious and moral perspectives of Black women at the heart of interpretation and understanding. Participants will embark on an expedition to delve deep into the intersectionality of race, gender, and class as we redefine, reimagine, and reframe the traditional narratives of Biblical women. Each week, we'll dive into stimulating discussions, engaging readings, critical reflections, and challenging exercises. Using selected texts from eminent womanist theologians, including "Womanist Midrash" by Wil Gafney and "Sisters in the Wilderness" by Delores S. Williams, we'll explore the stories of women like Hagar, Delilah, Vashti, and more. Together, we will examine these narratives from a perspective that acknowledges and elevates the diverse experiences of Black women, encourages critical thinking, and fosters a practical understanding of Womanist Theology that can be applied to our daily lives. This study invites you to experience the Bible in a new light, uncover hidden depths in familiar stories, and understand God's word from a perspective that affirms and celebrates the strength and resilience of Black women.
